Linen is one of the largest running costs in a hotel, and most of the wear happens outside the washing machine. A few housekeeping habits make a real difference to how long sheets and towels stay white, soft and presentable.
Never use linen as a cleaning cloth
Towels and sheets used to wipe up spills, make-up or shoe polish pick up stains that are hard to remove and fibres that are damaged by harsh rubbing. Keep dedicated cleaning cloths on every trolley.
Separate stained items early
Put heavily stained items in a separate bag at the room door. Fresh stains are far easier to treat than stains that have been sitting in a laundry cart for hours.
Keep linen dry until collection
Damp linen packed tightly in a bag can develop mildew and odours. Let wet towels air on the trolley rail before bagging them, and keep soiled linen rooms ventilated.
Rotate your stock
Store clean linen first-in, first-out so every item gets used evenly. Linen that sits at the back of the shelf for months and then goes into heavy use wears unevenly.
Track every item
Losses are a hidden cost. With Superlaundry's yearly linen contracts, every item is tagged and tracked from collection to delivery, and each item is guaranteed up to 400 cleans — so you always know where your linen is and what condition it is in.
